Grand Drift Aune is a short experimental scooter drifting demo about an elderly woman fueled by energy drinks, escaping the looming threat of a nursing home.

Drift through the sandbox area, collect energy boosts, and keep your heart (and ride) alive just a little longer.

⚠️ This is an early gameplay demo focused on mechanics, physics, and feel – not the full game. We’re exploring if there’s something uniquely fun here — your feedback means the world!

What’s New in This Version?

Two experimental objectives have been added to test:

  • DRIFT Letter Hunt – Find all five hidden letters scattered around the sandbox.

  • Timed Package Delivery – Pick up a package and deliver it before time runs out.

You’ll also need to keep your drift meter from emptying — or it’s game over.

Additional features:

  • Boost mechanic: Get a short burst of speed when you need it most.

  • Bigger test map: More open space, more chaos.

Controls:

  • WASD – Drive

  • Left Shift – Drift

  • Left CTRL - Boost

  • Space – Jump

  • R – Reset Scooter

  • P – Restart Scene

The Story:

Aune just admitted her husband Mauri into a nursing home. But after seeing the conditions there, she swore she’d never end up in the same place.

Her heart is weak, her pacemaker unreliable – but then she discovered something unexpected: energy drinks give her enough of a kick to cheat death and escape the system.

Now she rides. Now she drifts.
This isn’t retirement. This is rebellion.

Comments on the new build:

Nice improvements overall, great to have the controls on screen although I prefer teaching the player through in-game actions over text, for now it works with minimal time investment and that's aight! Thanks for specifying about having to drift through the items to collect them to avoid any confusion like I had in the earlier build.

Found myself being confused by the boxes with the letters until I saw the tiny task box in the corner! I think it would be better if the task popped up in the middle of the screen to grab your attention and then got moved to the side, it could just be me but the task box felt easily missable especially since I was super focused on drifting about! The task also felt a little random, but I figure maybe if you continue developing this further, the tasks could be more story specific to Aune's life and hobbies or something, but for now it was a good way to test an additional goal beyond collecting items!

Drifting is still fun, even bouncing on a wall and wildly spiraling out of control is fun, but I would enjoy a way to rotate the camera myself or at least reset it behind Aune, as at one point I managed to spin Aune around so badly that I was basically stuck advancing towards the camera/toward the player which definitely posed an extra challenge! Reseting did not help for this, but restart scene did, but if the game was longer than it is currently I'd be a bit annoyed at having to do that.

Speaking of drifting, there could be a slight delay at the start of the game before Aune's energy starts draining. I find myself so invested in the drifting and absolutely suck at aiming for the energy drinks, that I feel like giving the player a bit more time at the start of the game to get used to the movement would be nice. Often I'm already out of over half a bar before I get my bearings and manage to drift into my first drink!

Nice job again, keep on drifting!

Thank you so much for this feedback!

The camera system is very much under developing. The camera position resetting is the next thing to do! It is very much needed.

The letter collecting is now just a test to so to speak "task testing" so there is something to player to concentrate while drifting around. We are thinking something more story reliable in the future - any ideas for what player should be finding and picking up? :) Ideas are always welcome!

We have been thinking also the pure sandbox are where you can test and drive and drift. Without tasks - that would be good place to train drifting skills before taking them in to the city level!

I think for the task collection stuff, it could be fun if it changes every now and then, instead of being the same task every time! Like base them on stereotypical "granny activities", for example maybe Aune is late from her evening crocheting with her friends, so she has to frantically drift around town to find her yarns before she can get to her meeting, or other things like that!

I was going to suggest a sandbox type deal in my previous comment, kind of like a park in the middle of the city where you could just drift and mess about a bit before going on your way. So great to hear that's something you had considered of adding!

As a skilled game bug-tester, I managed to clip through the ground and the border wall, I also managed to achieve the power of the Golden Ratio and unlock Spin. I really am Gyro Zeppeli. Great game

Thank you for testing and nice feedback!

Still great fun! The environment really adds to this one and I feel like the more you add "city stuff" like more people, cars, obstacles the more chaos and fun it will be. I really like the representation for the energy drink pickups, had a good chuckle from that!

The amount of energy drinks felt a little low in some areas. I'm also not sure if it's a feature or a bug that I was not able to pick up some energy drinks by driving over them normally, but when I tried drifting they would be picked up.

Keep up the great work!

Thank you for testing!

It is not a bug - it is a feature that you have to drift to the energy drinks. And yes balancing is a real deal in the future when the area keeps updating.

Good and important feedback!
